COUNTERTOPS

With so many different choices today in looking for a countertop it can be frustrating trying to choose the one that is right for you.  Not only do you have to choose what kind of material you want to use for your new countertop but you also have to choose which brand to buy.  At Kustom Kitchen Designs we carry just about every line and manufacturer you could find.  We do this because there are many different reasons why you might choose one from another.  Pricing, color, material, and design are just among a few.  Below we will list some of the major brands.  Click on the link and it will take you to their site.  This can help you narrow down and educate you on what the different surfaces are made of.  Then come in and see us and we will fit it into the design you want and the budget you are looking for.

Laminates:  High pressure decorative laminate (HPDL) is made by saturating sheets of decorative and core paper with resins, then pressing them under high heat, fusing the layers into a single sheet. Surprisingly, a sheet of laminate is only 18% plastic resin; the rest is paper!

What Is 'Solid Surface'? Solid surface is basically a plastic. It's a petroleum-based product made from the combination of acrylic or polyester resins and an inert filler material. Its beauty, aside from pure aesthetics, lies in its ease of workability and repairability.

GRANITE:  is typically available in both slabs and tile, but is initially cut from huge blocks removed from the earth where the granite has formed over millions of years. This removal of specific types of rock, of which granite is one of the most popular, is accomplished by various means including the use of huge chisels that separate the granite from surrounding stone.  Typically if you decide to go with granite you will go to one of the slab warehouses to pick out your slab.  You can look at samples here but you really dont know what you are getting until you see the actual slab.
Quartz:  Although some quartz countertops are actually made of quarried slabs of the natural stone, the new engineered material is actually created through a manufacturing process that mixes approximately 95 percent ground natural quartz with 5 percent polymer resins. The result is a super-hard, low-maintenance, natural stone-look countertop available in a dazzling array of colors. And for many of the homeowners choosing quartz, those virtually unlimited color options are what sold them.
